Liverpool have offered a contract to Kevin De Bruyne as the midfielder prepares to leave Manchester City this summer, reports in Italy have claimed.
De Bruyne's contract expires at the end of the season and he has admitted his disappointment towards the way his future has been handled by City, who made the decision not to extend the 33-year-old's contract and embark on a squad rebuild in the transfer window.
In the immediate aftermath of the confirmation of his exit, De Bruyne made it clear he would have no issues joining another Premier League team, insisting he still feels capable of performing at the highest level.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sports Italy, De Bruyne may have the chance to remain in England as Liverpool have offered him a contract.
Much of the reporting is centred around Napoli's desire to sign De Bruyne, hoping that his relationship with Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku could convince him to take his talents to Naples, but Liverpool are named as significant threats to their hopes of getting a deal done.
De Bruyne wants to remain in Europe and play in a top league, and he also has no desire to drop out of the Champions League at this stage in his career, casting doubt over a potential move to Chicago Fire and Major League Soccer.
Just how De Bruyne would fit in at Liverpool is up for debate. The midfield trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been sensational under Arne Slot, and there does not appear to be a clear opening for De Bruyne in the starting lineup.
There are questions about the depth of Liverpool's midfield, with Harvey Elliott facing an uncertain future and Tyler Morton thought to be available for transfer, but whether De Bruyne is the right fit for the Reds at this current stage is unclear.
