Lamine Yamal has officially now signed his bumper new contract at Barcelona.
The teenage sensation put pen to paper in Catalonia on Tuesday evening on a fresh six-year deal that runs until the summer of 2031, with agent Jorge Mendes having completed the agreement with club president Joan Laporta on Monday.
The contract is said to contain a release clause worth an eye-watering €1billion, as did his previous deal signed in 2023, after he had made his first-team debut aged just 15, that ran until 2026.
Yamal is believed to have received a significant pay increase as well as being handed a number of further financial incentives including a sizeable bonus if he wins the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, per ESPN.
Yamal is currently considered among the front-runners for football’s biggest individual prize already in 2025, along with team-mate Raphinha, former Barca star Ousmane Dembele, Liverpool stalwart Mohamed Salah and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
Securing his long-term future is a major coup of planning for Barcelona, who had been eager to eliminate any possibility of losing a generational talent who has already established a firm reputation as one of the world’s best players aged just 17.
After shattering numerous records en route to winning Euro 2024 with Spain in Germany last summer, La Masia graduate Yamal has enjoyed a stunning campaign at Barca packed full of sublime moments and eye-catching goals.
He has netted 18 times and registered 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions, helping Hansi Flick’s side to wrestle the LaLiga title away from fierce rivals Real Madrid in addition to winning both the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup in a domestic treble, plus reaching the Champions League semi-finals.
“FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract which will now tie him to the Club until 30 June 2031,” Barcelona said in an official statement on Tuesday night.
“The player signed his new contract on Tuesday at the Club's offices in the presence of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yusta, and the Club's sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”, amongst others.
“A contract extension for Lamine Yamal is another demonstration of the solidity of the current Barça project.”
