Fabio Capello feels that it would be better for Inter Milan to face Feyenoord than PSV in the Champions League round of sixteen.

Capello gave his thoughts in an interview in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.

Inter Milan will face one of Feyenoord or PSV in a two-legged Champions League round of sixteen next month.

The two Dutch sides prevailed over AC Milan and Juventus in the playoffs.

That means that there will be no Milan Derby or Derby d’Italia in Europe.

Inter are the last remaining team from Serie A in Europe’s top club competition after Atalanta also crashed out.

Certainly, Inter will not be underestimating either of the two Dutch sides.

Feyenoord and PSV have knocked out two of Inter’s major domestic rivals, and two teams that the Nerazzurri have failed to beat this season in the form of Milan and Juventus.

However, the nature of the two upset results was somewhat different.

In the case of Feyenoord, they had looked to be teetering on the verge of elimination against Milan on Tuesday.

However, the Rossoneri missed a slew of presentable chances. Then, it was a red card to Theo Hernandez that really handed the Dutch side the lifeline they needed.

On the other hand, PSV genuinely outplayed Juventus over two legs to earn their spot in the next round.

Legendary former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello argued that Feyenoord are the opponent Inter would rather draw tomorrow.

“Feyenoord are a ways back in the Eredivisie table,” he said. “And in my opinion that’s not by chance.”

“Furthermore, based on what we saw in PSV’s two-legged tie against Juve, I think Bosz’s team has more solutions and quality than their compatriots from Rotterdam,” he continued.

“Then, Feyenoord have a number of players out.”

“I don’t know how many of them will be back for the next round of the Champions League,” Capello said.
