According to The Star, the Foxes are considering an approach as part of Russell Martin’s likely backroom staff.

Leicester are currently managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, but the end of the Premier League campaign is likely to signal the end of his time with the club.

The East Midlands outfit will be planning for life back in the Championship following their relegation, and will be keen to appoint a manager capable of bringing them straight back up next year, with that looking set to be Martin.

It was reported earlier this week by Football Insider that Martin is in talks to become the next Leicester manager, and it now appears more than likely that the ex-Southampton boss will succeed Van Nistelrooy.

It has now emerged that Pedersen is being eyed as a potential arrival as part of the 39-year-old’s coaching staff.

The 47-year-old has become a popular figure at Hillsborough for his work as assistant manager to Danny Rohl, having joined the club following the German’s appointment as coach in October 2023.

But Pedersen’s future at Sheffield Wednesday is currently uncertain, with his contract reportedly set to expire in just a few weeks.

This could open the door to a move to Leicester regardless of what the future holds for Rohl, with uncertainty also surrounding his future as manager.

However, no official decision will yet be made with Van Nistelrooy still in charge of Leicester ahead of their final Premier League clash of the season this weekend.

Pedersen joined Sheffield Wednesday as an understudy to Rohl, despite a managerial pedigree himself with both Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset and Vendsyssel in his home country of Denmark, leaving his role with the latter behind to play second fiddle at Hillsborough.

Since Pedersen arrived, the club has gone on an upwards trajectory in that time, and whilst German coach Rohl has earned a lot of praise, Pedersen has also played a key role in helping establish the Owls as a Championship side.

Henrik Pedersen’s departure would be a loss for Sheffield Wednesday

Doors are starting to close for Rohl’s potential exit from Hillsborough, which will be a relief to supporters.

But losing Pedersen to become a part of Martin’s coaching staff would also be a blow for the Owls.

The Dane has an important role as Rohl’s assistant, and will have a close relationship with the players that will have helped with their transformative performances in the last 18 months.

If Rohl does stay, his preference would surely be to keep his assistant alongside him at the club, but perhaps money talks in this instance, and Leicester, with their parachute payments, could potentially tempt Pedersen with a payrise.
