Barcelona sealed a sixth consecutive Liga F title with a thumping 9-0 win over Betis. The result confirmed Betis’ relegation, along with Valencia, who only picked up a point on Matchday 29. Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid secured Women’s Champions League qualification with a win over Eibar.

Here, we will round up all the action from the penultimate weekend of the Liga F season, starting with the Liga F title decider.

Real Betis 0-9 Barcelona

It was a day of mixed emotions at Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol, as Barcelona cruised to a dominant victory to seal the Liga F title and condemn Betis to the second tier. Ewa Pajor required just three minutes to head in from Clàudia Pina’s cross. Pina then got on the scoresheet to double Barcelona’s advantage in the sixth minute. Matters got worse for Betis when goalkeeper Paula Vizoso was sent off for bringing down Pajor on the edge of the box.

Esmee Brugts went on to add a third in the closing stages of the first half, before Barcelona made use of the numerical advantage to net six goals in the second period. First, Pina scored two goals in three minutes to complete her hat-trick with the majority of the second half still to play. Aitana Bonmatí then neatly controlled Alexia Putellas’ cross to steer a right-footed shot past Noelia Gil.

Moments later, Putellas steered the ball in from Brugts to take the tally to seven. There was still time left for Pajor and Putellas to seal braces, wrapping up a commanding win and another successful Liga F season. As for Betis, their nine-year stay in the top flight has come to an end.

Real Madrid 1-1 Costa Adeje Tenerife

Real Madrid dropped two points on a day when their faint Liga F title hopes were ended. Signe Bruun missed the chance to give Real Madrid a half-time lead when she saw her penalty saved by Noelia Ramos.

The visitors ultimately took advantage of that moment to hit the front in the 62nd minute. Rinsola Babajide drove inside onto her left foot before rifling the ball beyond the outstretched Laia López.

Unfortunately for Tenerife, they had to settle for a draw after Caroline Møller headed home an 89th-minute equaliser. With one game left to play, Real Madrid are guaranteed to finish in second spot, while Tenerife are in seventh position in the Liga F table.

Eibar 0-2 Atlético Madrid

Atlético secured European qualification with a successful trip to Ipurua. Rasheedat Ajibade tapped the ball in from Luany’s cross to give her side a half-time lead.

The scoreline remained a slender one until Fiamma added a second in the 77th minute. The 20-year-old raced away from one defender before skilfully evading another to create the opening to guide a left-foot shot in at the near post.

The victory secured Atlético a third-place finish with one game left to play.

Athletic Club 1-0 Espanyol

Atlético’s win ultimately ended Athletic Club’s hopes of qualifying for the Women’s Champions League. The Basque side did at least pick up all three points in their home meeting with Espanyol.

Maite Valero scored the decisive goal just past the hour mark. The substitute met Ane Elexpuru’s inviting cross on the full to guide home her second Liga F goal of the season. Athletic will finish the season in fourth spot, while Espanyol are in 11th place after 29 matches.

Levante Badalona 1-1 Valencia

Valencia suffered their first-ever relegation from the top flight after they failed to win their crucial away meeting with Levante Badalona. The visitors were put on the back foot when Elena Julve opened the scoring in the 47th minute. Julve raced onto a through ball from former Valencia player Macarena Portales, before she calmly slotted it past Antonia Canales.

The visitors managed to restore parity in the 89th minute through Motunrayo Ezekiel. The substitute drilled a low shot into the bottom corner to score her first goal for the club. However, it ultimately proved too little, too late for Valencia. The draw condemned the basement side to the second tier, but it secured another top-flight season for Badalona.

Deportivo La Coruña 1-1 Sevilla

Deportivo La Coruña secured their survival with a dramatic draw against Sevilla. The visitors thought they had won the game when they found the net in the 90th minute. Fatou Kanteh produced a flicked header from a near-post corner to score her seventh goal of the season.

In a quick turn of events, Deportivo responded with an equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time. Elyse Bennett capitalised on some hesitant defending before driving the ball into the bottom corner to snatch a point.

Real Sociedad 4-2 Granada

Real Sociedad survived a Granada fightback to pick up all three points on Sunday. Amaiur Sarriegi scored a fifth-minute opener to give the hosts a narrow lead at the break. Real Sociedad then made a fast start to the second period, netting two goals in the space of four minutes. Klára Cahynová headed home from Cecilia Marcos’ free-kick before Sarriegi drilled home her second goal of the game.

However, just as it seemed as though Real Sociedad would claim a comfortable victory, Granada staged a fightback to reduce the deficit to one. First, Edna Imade lifted the ball over Elene Lete to net her 16th league goal of the season. Miku Kojima then netted a late penalty to boost her team’s hopes of rescuing a point. Those aspirations were ultimately quashed when Claire Lavogez added a fourth for Real Sociedad to make sure of the three points.

Levante 0-0 Madrid CFF

Levante had to settle for a goalless draw in their meeting with Madrid CFF. The hosts did their utmost to find a breakthrough, registering 19 shots and six on target. However, Madrid CFF goalkeeper Paola Ulloa made six important stops to help seal a point for her side. While Levante were unable to find a breakthrough, they still managed to guarantee Liga F football for another season.
