GK: Caoimhin Kelleher - Alisson was handed the night off on Thursday and should be treated to another mini-break this weekend. Kelleher has proven an incredibly able deputy whenever called upon.

RB: Conor Bradley - With Trent Alexander-Arnold guaranteed to miss out against Plymouth, Bradley could be handed another start. The Northern Irishman was excellent in the 4-0 win over Tottenham midweek.

CB: Jarell Quansah - Quansah made a slow start to life under Slot but is beginning to hit his stride after an adjustment period. The youngster has been a regular starter in the cup competitions.

CB: Wataru Endo - The Japan international has been readily used at centre-back under Slot - a function he performed on occasion with Stuttgart - and he may feature in the heart of defence again as Joe Gomez nears a return to the matchday squad.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas - Andy Robertson and the 'Greek Scouser' have been scrapping for the starting spot at left-back. The former has started the last four matches and should be given the afternoon off ahead of the Merseyside derby.

DM: James McConnell - McConnell has looked remarkably composed when thrust into the first-team picture and produced an admirable display in defeat against PSV Eindhoven in Liverpool's most recent European outing.

DM: Alexis Mac Allister - Mac Allister was surprisingly named on the bench on Thursday and could be restored to the XI at Home Park. If he does feature from the off, he could well be withdrawn at half-time or after an hour to preserve his legs.

RW: Federico Chiesa - Chiesa is beginning to show glimpses of his ingenuity in a Liverpool shirt after an injury-stricken start on Merseyside. He was impactful against PSV in Europe and opened his account for the Reds in the FA Cup third round.

AM: Harvey Elliott - There were brief question marks over Elliott's future in January following a lack of consistent game time this season but the cup competitions have offered him opportunities. He's managed three goals in six appearances outside the Premier League.

LW: Diogo Jota - Having made his much-anticipated return from the bench against Spurs, Jota could be chucked into the starting XI on Sunday. Like Mac Allister, the forward's minutes will be closely managed.

ST: Darwin Nunez - It seems unlikely that Nunez will start the Merseyside derby given his struggles against deep-lying defences, meaning he could earn a second consecutive start this weekend. He's scored just twice in his last ten matches.
