Liverpool are set to welcome Wolves to Anfield in what promises to be a crucial Premier League encounter. With the Reds vying to maintain their top-four position, manager Arne Slot faces some selection dilemmas due to injuries and suspensions. Wolves, meanwhile, are aiming to disrupt the hosts’ momentum and secure a significant away result.
Liverpool’s defensive setup will require some reshuffling. Trent Alexander-Arnold made a brief return during the midweek fixture following a knee injury and could start against Wolves. His ability to dictate play from deep and contribute offensively will be pivotal.
However, the Reds will be without Curtis Jones, who saw red after an altercation with Abdoulaye Doucoure during the Merseyside derby. Jones’ absence leaves a gap in midfield, but Slot has options with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch expected to step in.
The absence of key staff members, including Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff, due to suspensions complicates matters further. Liverpool will need to rely heavily on their on-field leaders, with Virgil van Dijk set to marshal the defence.

The midfield battle will be crucial at Anfield. Mac Allister’s defensive awareness alongside Gravenberch’s creativity could provide the balance Liverpool need. Dominik Szoboszlai has impressed with his dynamism and will be expected to link midfield to attack seamlessly.
Wolves have shown resilience this season and are likely to target any midfield vulnerabilities. The visitors’ pressing game might test Liverpool’s ability to transition quickly, especially with Alexander-Arnold easing back into match fitness.
Liverpool’s attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz remains their strongest asset. Salah’s form, particularly at Anfield, has been exceptional, while Diaz’s relentless energy and Gakpo’s positioning provide diverse attacking threats.
Gakpo remains a fitness concern, but if available, he is expected to lead the line. If not, Darwin Nunez could step in. Wolves will need to be wary of Liverpool’s fluid forward movements, especially with Salah’s eye for goal.
Goalkeeper: Alisson
Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas
Midfielders: Mac Allister, Gravenberch
Forwards: Salah, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Diaz
Doubts: Gakpo
Injured: Jones, Morton
Suspended: Jones, Slot, Hulshoff
Liverpool will need to overcome their absences and execute Slot’s tactical vision to secure three points. Wolves, meanwhile, will look to exploit any defensive vulnerabilities and add a twist to the Premier League narrative.
