With the end of the season on the horizon, Real Madrid are having to make some major decisions regarding the futures of some of their players whose contracts run out on June 30.
One such player happens to be veteran right-back Lucas Vazquez – a product of the club’s academy who has been in the first-team picture for a decade.
Much like with the case of Nacho Fernandez last year, Lucas Vazquez will bring his time at Real Madrid to an end at the conclusion of this season, reports OK Diario.
The club will not offer a renewal to the team’s third captain, which means that from 1 July, he will be free to sign with any club of his choosing.
One unresolved matter is whether he will extend his stay briefly in order to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, a conversation expected to take place at Valdebebas in the coming weeks.

Vazquez, for his part, had always planned to continue at Real Madrid. However, the reality is that the imminent arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the ongoing recovery of Dani Carvajal, which is progressing well, have closed the door on his continued presence in the squad.
This season, he has played in 46 matches, having initially stepped in for the injured Carvajal and sharing the right-back position in key matches with Federico Valverde.
Vazquez, one of the club captains this season, is one of the most decorated players in Real Madrid history, having won 22 trophies in his career, including five UEFA Champions League honours and four La Liga crowns.
As such, he will go down as a legend of the club when his time at the Santiago Bernabeu comes to an end this summer.
