Manchester City make the trip south to face Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend with the Citizens down to the bare bones.
Pep Guardiola has called the club’s current injury crisis the worst of his tenure, after Manuel Akanji and Savinho joined the growing list of absentees.
A second-string side crashed out of the Carabao Cup at Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, a contest that saw City’s casualty list increase.
Guardiola has claimed that City have just 13 fit outfield players for this weekend’s game, against a Bournemouth side who have taken results off Arsenal and Aston Villa in their last two games.
Things are looking bleak for the champions right now with the treatment room becoming overcrowded at the Etihad. Savinho was stretchered offer during the defeat at Spurs on Wednesday, while Manuel Akanji withdrew during the warm-up.
Influential midfield pair Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri remain out, while Oscar Bobb, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Kyle Walker are also absent. With Ruben Dias and Akanji facing a fight to feature this weekend, Guardiola could supplement his squad with academy talent.
“You will see from the list. I have many doubts. Tomorrow, you will know it,” Guardiola said on his team selection at his pre-match press conference.
“We are not the only team in football to have injuries. We have a lot, but it is what it is. We concern ourselves. The challenge is that and we will play with 11 players. ”
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson; Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Kovacic; Bernardo, Gundogan, Foden, Nunes; Haaland.
Bournemouth host Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday 2nd November 2024. Kick-off at The Vitality Stadium is 15:00 GMT.
The match will not be shown live to a UK audience.
