Manchester United are thought to be one of four Premier League clubs looking to bring Harry Kane back to England in the summer.
The Red Devils are absolutely desperate for a recognised goalscorer as they have only netted a meagre 28 goals in 24 league matches this season.
It has been reported that they have a deal in place to land Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres in the summer.
In addition, they have also been heavily linked to SSC Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.
There have been reports this week however that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would be keen to rekindle the club’s long-term interest in Harry Kane as his release clause will drop to £54 million in June. What’s more, the record England goalscorer is viewed as a “dream target” for the owners.
Spanish outlet Fichajes add to the story by claiming that United are one of four English sides looking to tempt Kane with a move back to the Premier League.
According to the website, “Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all expressed interest in signing the England captain in the summer.”
The Red Devils are said to be “keeping a close eye” on the situation as they “have struggled up front, and Kane could be the answer to their attacking woes.”
“Joshua Zirkzee has failed to live up to expectations, making the addition of an established goalscorer even more necessary.”
Despite the hordes of clubs knocking at the door, Kane’s current team Bayern Munich are reportedly not worried about the Englishman departing in the near future.
United famously chased Kane for years but did not make a move for him in 2023 when he left Tottenham Hotspur due to the difficulty of dealing with their chairman Daniel Levy.
A move for the 31 year old would certainly guarantee goals as he has 29 in 29 matches this season but it is uncertain that spending so much on a player on the wrong side of 30 would suit the youthful ethos that the club and Ruben Amorim are trying to build.
