Manchester United plan to reinforce their attack this summer after misfiring for most of the campaign. They currently languish in the bottom half of the Premier League and have spent most of the season there.

The Man United forward line has been sub-par, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund failing to live up to expectations despite the Red Devils shelling nearly £100 million to sign the pair.

Hojlund recently ended his barren run of 20+ league games against Leicester City, taking his tally to a measly three. His partner-in-crime, Zirkzee, has managed only three too.

The Reds need to bolster their attack with a lethal striker, and according to Florian Plettenberg, United have eyes on two Bundesliga names – Eintracht Frankfurt man Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Ekitike has bounced back from a disappointing spell at Paris Saint-Germain and is delivering the goods in Germany, where he has recorded 19 goals across all competitions this season, spearheading Die Adler into the top four in the league and the quarter-final of the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Sesko is tipped to become one of the best in the world, and Man United might be tempted to take an early punt on the Slovenian.

The report from Plettenberg also mentions Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli/Galatasaray centre-forward Victor Osimhen as options under consideration.

Osimhen and Gyokeres are the clear choices for Man United if they want to turn their attack around immediately.

Both are proven goalscorers at the highest level, with Osimhen firing Napoli and Galatasaray to league titles.

Gyokeres is dominating in Portugal and has previously worked with Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim. Their physicality, finishing, and experience make them far better suited to the Premier League than the relatively untested Ekitike and Sesko.

Man Utd cannot afford another long-term project up front. They need a reliable, prolific No. 9 who can hit the ground running. If they are serious about competing again, Osimhen and Gyokeres must be the priority this summer.
