Manchester City have chosen Tijjani Reijnders as their top target to replace Kevin De Bruyne and wish to strike a deal with Milan before the Club World Cup. After some resistance from the Rossoneri, the negotiation is progressing and is at a good point already, Calciomercato informs.
The Dutchman, who renewed his contract earlier this season, has never asked to leave, but he’ll receive a very lucrative offer on personal terms. Like most players, he’s tempted by transferring to the Premier League.
Milan started from a €70M valuation for Reijnders, but the switch to Manchester City could ultimately go through for about €60M, Tuttomercatoweb informs. The Sky Blues will try to make it happen during the new transfer window at the start of June.
The Rossoneri will be significantly in the red for the first time since the RedBird Capital takeover this campaign. Plus, they’ll have to offset the loss of the Champions League prize money for the next one.
If they cash in on their star, they’ll go all-out to sign their long-time target Samuele Ricci early to beat out other teams keen on him, like Inter and Napoli. On the other hand, Torino are in no rush and will seek to stoke a bidding war.
Since that’s how American owners see the sport, they’ll have to come up with the money somehow, but selling their most consistent player when they have two cornerstones that may have run their course on expiring contracts is a low-hanging fruit that would cancel out one of the rare successes of their current management, which was signing him for cheap from AZ.
