Officials at Manchester City are on the verge of sanctioning a staggering €80 million investment on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush this month, it has been reported.

The 25-year-old forward has rapidly emerged as one of the club’s top targets for the January market as they begin work on what many believe will be a significant overhaul of their first-team playing squad in 2025.

Manchester City are eyeing as many as four new names to come into Pep Guardiola’s squad this month, due in part to a poor first-half to the ongoing campaign that has seen them thrown out of the Premier League title race already in the eyes of those within the club.

Alongside the chase of Marmoush’s signature, City officials are also working on deals for Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras’ Vitor Reis, while a new central midfielder remains on the agenda this month.

But the versatile Egyptian forward is no doubt the most complex operation with Eintracht Frankfurt currently third in the Bundesliga and having firm ambitions of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Nevertheless, Manchester City are doing all they can to make a deal happen, and a new report has pointed towards the financial lengths that the Premier League giants are seemingly prepared to go to in order to get their primary attacking target signed.

That is according to the information of Foot Mercato, who report that Manchester City and Eintracht Frankfurt are now close to an agreement over the January transfer of Omar Marmoush.

Amid confidence from both sides that a deal is close, it is now reported that the Premier League champions are ready to sanction a move estimated to be worth €80 million, with the player clear that he wants the switch to happen this month as opposed to the summer.

From the side of the player, it is once again reaffirmed that Marmoush has an agreement with Manchester City, in a situation that has been the case of ‘several days’.

The Premier League champions certainly have the space available in their first-team squad for the arrival of Omar Marmoush, as well as the financial wealth following activity conducted in previous windows.

Atletico Madrid secured a blockbuster move for City’s now-former Argentine international Julian Alvarez last summer in a package deal worth up to €90 million, before the club would not move forward with replacements for the player in the weeks that remained.

As such, Txiki Begiristain and his recruitment colleagues within the Etihad Stadium may feel as though they can now invest a large portion of that wealth into Omar Marmoush, and that it is justified given his remarkable form in German football this season so far.
