FC Barcelona are having a memorable 2024-25 season, and after already having won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup titles, the Catalans are looking to accumulate even more glory by winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
After such an excellent season, the Blaugranes would naturally want to retain most of their important players for the next season. However, the backline is one of the areas of the team where some changes are expected in the upcoming summer.
Barcelona already have a surplus of players for the centre-back position, but have also been closely linked with the German defender Jonathan Tah, who has confirmed that he will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of this season.
In fact, Tah is keen to join the Blaugrana club, but even though Deco and his side also want the defender, their FFP problems have kept this transfer from being finalised.
In this context, several other major clubs have also shown interest in the defender, with Bayern Munich particularly keen on signing him. In addition to the Bavarian giants, Real Madrid have also been closely linked with Tah, especially considering the possible arrival of Xabi Alonso as their new head coach.
Furthermore, according to Florian Plettenberg (h/t Caught Offside), another European giant, Manchester United, has also entered the race to sign the German veteran. The Red Devils have already held talks with his representatives.

If successful, this move will be a notable achievement for the Premier League side, as it would get a replacement for the likes of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof without spending a penny in transfer fees.
With years of experience, Tah would be able to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s side right from his joining, and would be a particularly welcome addition for the Portuguese coach, keeping in view the vulnerability his side has shown in defence.
However, with all these sides interested in his signing, it remains to be seen how this operation develops in the coming months and for which side Jonathan Tah will play for the next season.
