Manchester United forward Antony has won his arbitration case against former club Ajax over fines imposed during his move to Old Trafford.

Earlier this year, it emerged that Antony took Ajax to court after they imposed big fines on him for forcing through a transfer to United in the summer of 2022.

It’s understood that Ajax withheld hundreds of thousands of pounds of unpaid salary, which Antony claimed was unlawful.

At the time, the Brazilian missed multiple Ajax training sessions as he tried to force the Eredivisie club to sanction his sale to United.

Antony was also omitted from a top-flight clash against Sparta Rotterdam. Ajax maintained that he was absent without permission and justified fining him three times—the equivalent of the training sessions he missed.

Now, Soccer News have given an update, indicating that Antony has won his legal dispute against Ajax and as a result, is due compensation.

It’s understood that Antony is demanding back €363,000, which is the amount he was sanctioned.

The KNVB arbitration committee ruled that Ajax’s €50,000 fine on Antony for missing a single group training session was “excessive.”

Additional fines that Ajax imposed on the 24-year-old were also deemed to be disproportionate. It’s not yet clear how much Ajax will be obliged to pay Antony back because a statement from then-head coach Alfred Schreuder needs to be factored in.

Antony is currently away on loan to Real Betis, where he is seeking to revive his career after an extremely difficult two-and-a-half seasons with United.

He has started well at Betis, scoring his second goal for the Spanish club in their Europa Conference League victory over Gent.

Antony managed just 17 goal contributions in 96 appearances for the Red Devils.
