An interesting new report (see below) from BBC Sport, where they have explained why this is the lowest quality European final of all time.
Two rubbish teams currently fighting it out to be fourth bottom of the Premier League, neither of them have even managed to get 40 points so far, with only one game each to go. Plus they are both in shocking form in the Premier League going back months.
The Champions League final is between Ligue 1 winners PSG and Serie A challengers (second top by one point with one match to go) Inter Milan.
Even the Europa Conference League Final this season sees Chelsea who are fifth top of the Premier League, up against Real Betis who are sixth in La Liga.
An embarrassment that one of Manchester United or Spurs will get a Champions League place next season, when winning the Europa League tonight in Bilbao.
‘Never in the history of European competition has a final been played between two teams so out of form.
The winners of Wednesday’s Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham in Bilbao could be the lowest league finishers ever to win a major European trophy.
And they will certainly become the lowest team to ever qualify for the European Cup or Champions League.
United sit in 16th place in the Premier League, with Spurs 17th – and a combined 39 league defeats.
The only league games either have won since 2 February have been against sides who were relegated – or each other.
