Manchester United have been pretty goal-shy this season with the form of their forward players far from impressive which is why Ruben Amorim has asked INEOS for reinforcements.
Despite the team’s dominance against FCSB on Thursday, Rasmus Hojlund drew a blank yet again with the Dane without a goal for 12 games now.
Joshua Zirkzee has improved in recent weeks but that has not translated into goals while the club is mulling over selling Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, the latter against the head coach’s wishes.
Moving both academy graduates this January could leave the Portuguese light up top which is why the Red Devils are interested in acquiring Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich on an initial loan deal.
The Frenchman has attracted plenty of interest with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur even agreeing a deal with the Bavarian giants.
The player has rejected the chance to head to North London and he fancies a move to Old Trafford owing to the prospect of receiving immediate game-time there.
He has started only four times under Vincent Kompany, which is why he is desperate for minutes and as per TBR Football, United’s “attractive” proposition to the 19-year-old includes the chance to earn minutes as soon as he arrives.
“However, Tel told Spurs that he wasn’t interested in joining them, which has blown the race for the Bayern Munich star wide open.
“Now, Man United have moved quickly in pursuit of Tel, though other Premier League clubs remain on the case. Manchester United are presenting Mathys Tel with an attractive option to play straight away.”
Despite his young age, Tel, likened to Kylian Mbappe owing to his quick feet and finishing ability, managed to score 10 times last season and has already amassed 83 caps for the Bayern senior team.
He can play out wide and up front on his own and Amorim could do with another option given Hojlund and Zirkzee’s form in front of goal.
Whether Tel chooses United or any other club or remains at the Allianz Arena will become clearer in the days to come with the January window slamming shut on February 3.
