Former Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio has picked his Juventus MVP for 2024-25, has revealed who he thinks is the best Serie A player in every position and has given his say on the future of Bianconeri head coach Igor Tudor.

The 39-year-old gave a quickfire interview to TMW at the European Kings League final on Thursday.

“Serie A is going through an important phase in terms of highs and lows, so we will see what happens on this final day,” Marchisio said as Napoli and Inter go head-to-head for the Serie A title on Friday night.

His former side, Juventus, meanwhile will guarantee themselves a spot in next season’s Champions League with a win away against Venezia on the final day, this Sunday.

Marchisio comments on Tudor future at Juventus: ‘Not easy’

Despite being on the verge of a top four finish, it has been a largely disappointing season for the Bianconeri, who dismissed head coach Thiago Motta in March after less than a year in charge.

He was replaced by Igor Tudor on a contract until the end of the FIFA Club World Cup, which runs from mid-June to mid-July.

Asked for his verdict on Tudor and whether he should be given the head coach position on a more permanent basis, Marchisio said: “It’s not easy because he came in mid-way through the season. Juventus have to reach the Champions League, and if they manage to achieve this goal it will be a positive season.

“On the other hand, failure to qualify means that this season, once again, would be disappointing.

“It’s up to the club and not me to judge this. The important thing is getting to the Champions League,” Marchisio replied when asked if he thinks Tudor should be given the job on a permanent basis.

Marchisio also revealed who he thinks have been the standout players in Serie A and beyond so far in 2024-25.

In terms of goalkeepers, he feels that the number one in Serie A this season has been: “(Yann) Sommer, given that he’s about to play in the Champions League final. Abroad, it’s (Gianluigi) Donnarumma.”

He continued: “In defence, (Alessandro) Buongiorno and (Francesco) Acerbi, in midfield (Scott) McTominay. In attack, (Marcus) Thuram and (Lamine) Yamal.”

Marchisio also revealed his personal pick for Juventus’s MVP in 2024-25: “Khephren Thuram.”
