Omar Marmoush has been one of European football’s top scorers and goal creators this season.

Our new signing has a total of 25 – 15 goals and 10 assists – to date with Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres also on 25 and fellow Egyptian Mo Salah (31) leading the way.

The above stats are league only, with Marmoush’s overall figures this campaign even more impressive with 20 goals and 14 assists for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Erling Haaland is City’s top scorer this season with 22 goals in all competitions (plus seven more for Norway) – and Marmoush says he cannot wait to play and learn alongside our prolific No.9.

Asked about the prospect of having Haaland as his team-mate, Omar said: “I can’t wait. Erling is a goal-machine and I'm very excited to be able to play with him on the pitch and learn some things from him also.

“Hopefully I can assist him, and we can enjoy playing together."

The Egyptian star has been one of European football’s brightest talents over the past two seasons and has played his football in Germany for the past seven years.

And, with good reason, he believes the Bundesliga is the perfect grounding for the demands of what is widely regarded as the world’s toughest division – the Premier League.

"From being very young it was my dream to play in the Premier League,” said Marmoush.

“This league is very intense and fits the style of play that I have and I'm just really happy to be here.

“It's another test for me and this is just the beginning. Now my journey starts with City and hopefully we can win many trophies and gave many nice seasons together."

Marmoush admits he will need time to bed in and understand the demand of being a Manchester City player.

But under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola and given the many Bundesliga players who have proved to be a success in England in recent years, he is hoping the transition will be a seamless one.

"I think that is something we are going to see with time,” he said.

“The Bundesliga is very similar to the Premier League in style, but here the intensity is higher.

“So, players coming from the German league to England [in my opinion], have it easier to adapt to the style of play and the intensity.

“I just want to get to know my team-mates, get into the team and know what the coach wants from each and every one of us and try to function within the team."
