Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has reportedly accepted a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day, just days after turning down the chance to join the club permanently.

The 19-year-old's future has been the talk of the town in January, ever since it became public knowledge that he'd willing to move away from Bayern in order to play more first-team football.

Tel received plenty of interest, with Spurs moving quickly to try snap the Frenchman up permanently, and a bid worth €60m (£50m) was accepted by Bayern. But after a few days consideration, he rejected the chance to move, despite chairman Daniel Levy personally flying to Munich to agree terms.

A few days later, however, and Tel is seemingly back on his way to Spurs. Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg was the first to reveal that the 19-year-old had accepted a loan move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was later backed up by a number of other outlets.

Crucially, the deal is not believed to include a purchase clause, which will send Tel back to Bayern in the summer no matter what.

Tel, a natural striker who is also comfortable on the left side of attack, will provide a huge boost to Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, who has publicly pleaded with those in charge of the club to recruit new faces to help save a season which has seen Spurs fall down to 14th in the Premier League standings.

It represents somewhat of a coup for Spurs as Tel has attracted interest from some of the Premier League's elite. Chelsea are long-term admirers, while Manchester United joined the race late in the window.

North London rivals Arsenal were also mulling over a move for Tel, but it is Spurs who now look set to land his services for the next six months barring any sudden U-turns or late complications.
