An all-round performance from Real Madrid helped secured an important victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Goals from the Merengue’s front trio and Federico Valverde ensured that any effort Sevilla put in would be in vain.
Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Sevilla.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 6.5
Made two saves throughout the match and could have done better to stop the second goal since it was a near post shot and a player of his caliber should be saving it.
Lucas Vazquez: 8.0
Easily his best game of the season. Made frequent attacking runs and quite easily as well. Could have scored as well after his shot was saved inside the box. Recorded an assist for the third goal to Rodrygo. Would be delighted to contribute to the victory and end the year on a high after some poor early outings.
Aurelien Tchouaméni: 7.0
Should have done better to track Isaac Romero for Sevilla’s first goal. Just had to make 3 clearances throughout the match and kept his passing simple.
Antonio Rüdiger: 7.0
A rather simpler outing for the Real Madrid defender and he could not have done much in either of the goals since they both came from the left side. A couple of clearances and a tackle and played some great long balls.
Eduardo Camavinga: 7.5
Had experience of playing as a left-back and it was a solid outing for the Frenchman. Notched an assist for Valverde’s banger. Made a clearance off the line and as many as 7 tackles amongst other defensive actions. A good day at the office for him.
Dani Ceballos: 7.0
Another good day in the midfield for Ceballos. Stayed deep in his position and quietly did his job, with 95% accurate passing. Had a crack at goal too.
Fede Valverde: 8.0
When he is on song, he is unstoppable. Scored his fifth goal of the season – ironically all five were long rangers. A stunning goal combined with 3 key passes, interceptions, clearances and tackles capped a perfect night for the Real Madrid star.
Jude Bellingham: 7.5
Not involved in either of the goals whatsoever but his workrate helped the team immensely. Defensively helped out Vazquez on the right and was found on the left too a couple of times. The ball stuck to his feet as he kept possession and it was difficult to win the ball from him.
Brahim Díaz: 8.0
Scored his second goal of the season, after Mbappe found him in the right spot at the right time. Shifted in all the attacking positions and impressed specially on the right. Got out of tight spaces with ease.
Rodrygo: 8.5
Another brilliant night for the Brazilian who now seems to have found some consistency in his performances. Make that 5 goals and 3 assists in 15 league appearances. Could have had a brace to himself. Stepped up in Vinicius’ absence on the left.
Kylian Mbappe: 9.0
A perfect night for the Frenchman who now seems to be more confident than he was earlier this season. Scored his 14th goal of the season – a long range stunner – and recorded a well-timed assist for Brahim, along with five key passes as well. Arguably his best performance of the season. Rightfully named Man of the Match – for the second game in a row.
Substitutes:
Luka Modric: 6.5
Came around for the final 20 minutes and had the job to not overdo stuff. Did it as expected although did not seem comfortable dealing with Sevilla’s physicality.
Arda Güler: 6.0
Was brought along with Modric. Won three duels and put in one long ball in his 19 minutes on the pitch.
Raul Asencio: 6.0
Played the last 10 minutes as a right back. Did well for the most part but then left a lot of space for Dodi Lukebakio to score Sevilla’s second.
