On Friday afternoon, another ‘special card’ for Tottenham Hotspur’s Dutch centre back Micky van de Ven was released by EAFC, as part of the new “track stars” promo, focusing on the most athletic players that are currently playing.

It is the second special card that the defender has received this year, after being named in the team of the week for his incredible assist as well as clean sheet away to Manchester United in the Premier League at the back end of September.

That card was 84 rated, and was seen as pretty overpowered. This one is even better. The base rating is 86 rated, and the base stats read as; 90 pace, 52 shooting, 70 passing, 77 dribbling, 87 defending, and 86 physical. Beyond these six stats, van de Ven’s card also has; 95 sprint speed, 94 jumping, 97 interceptions, 88 standing tackle, 87 sliding tackle, and 90 strength.

Some fans have taken issue with the awarding of 90 pace, suggesting it is not enough, particularly considering the pace on some other player’s cards as part of the promo, such as Federico Chiesa having 95 pace.

Whilst 90 pace is still pretty quick, for a player who has clocked the highest speed in both the Bundesliga and Premier League, leagues that Alphonso Davies and Kyle Walker play in, it does feel fairly low. It would certainly be interesting to see all three players have a race at some point.

The card is currently on the market for around 760,000 coins. For context, his aforementioned in form card can be purchased for around 110,000 coins. Good luck to anybody coming against that card during their weekend league games.

On the topic of van de Ven, there has been talk that the hamstring injury the defender picked up against Manchester City, could be worse than first feared. Whilst it does not seem he will be out for as long as he was last season, there is a suggestion that he will not be available until early December, which would mean he at least misses games against Manchester City and AS Roma – and probably Fulham too.

Furthermore, Cristian Romero picked up an injury when representing Argentina during their 2-1 defeat at Paraguay in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, so there is a possibility that Spurs will be rocking up at the Etihad with a defensive partnership of Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin. What could possibly go wrong?
