Milan and Lazio have each retained the services of a player in the leadup to Sunday’s big Serie A showdown.
The two clubs are embroiled in a thrilling race for the fourth place which is currently led by Juventus who, as things stand at the moment, would be the ones to qualify for the Champions League. The Rossoneri will have the opportunity to improve their position on Thursday as they finally play their postponed fixture against Bologna. But regardless of the result, the weekend’s clash remains crucial.
According to Sky Sport Italia (via MilanNews), Luka Jovic travelled with Sergio Conceicao’s host towards Bologna. The 27-year-old has suffered several injury setbacks this season. He missed the last three fixtures due to a problem that hasn’t been specified by the club.
Nevertheless, the Serbian striker has now returned to the fold, adding depth to a department that also includes Santiago Gimenez and Tammy Abraham. Former Roma captain Alessandro Florenzi has also travelled with the Milan squad, although he has yet to fully recover from his ACL injury.
On a separate note, Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) reveals that Matias Vecino will finally make his return to Lazio’s squad after two and a half months on the sidelines. This will be a timely comeback given the lack of depth in Marco Baroni’s midfield department, especially amidst Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s injury. The Nigerian could be out for 15 days.
The Uruguayan veteran was the first alternative for Nicolo Rovella and Matteo Guendouzi before his injury, but the young Reda Belhayane will be hoping to swiftly climb his way up the ladder following his impressive debut in Venezia.
