Milan superstar Rafael Leao could leave the club in the summer transfer window, especially if the Rossoneri fail to secure European football. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Leao’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is tirelessly working behind the scenes to facilitate his summer exit.

Leao earned a cult status at the San Siro after helping Milan end a decade-long title drought in Serie A in the 2021/22 season. His on-field connection with Theo Hernandez was the backbone of Milan’s Scudetto triumph three years ago and arguably the cornerstone of the club’s resurrection these past few years.

However, things have gone south for both Milan stars this season. Upon the exit of long-serving boss Stefano Pioli, both players have fallen out with his successors. Paulo Fonseca didn’t last long as the Rossoneri sacked him toward the end of 2024, with the club stuck in Serie A’s mid-table.

Yet, Sergio Conceicao hasn’t steadied the ship despite lifting the Supercoppa Italiana title in his first two games in charge. Furthermore, Leao, marred by an awkward atmosphere in the dressing room, has been a shadow of his former self.

Therefore, the 25-year-old could wave goodbye to Milan at the end of the season, with Barcelona ready to onboard him. Meanwhile, Mendes is keen to take his client away from Lombardy after being instructed by the player to find a new destination ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
