Liverpool’s summer rebuild under Premier League title-winning manager Arne Slot is gathering pace. Having already secured Jeremie Frimpong as their first signing, attention has now turned to AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, with negotiations advancing swiftly. The Hungarian left-back has addressed speculation linking him with a move to Anfield, offering insight into his mindset and hinting at a transfer that appears more likely by the day.
Milos Kerkez has been firmly on Liverpool’s radar for months. Following an impressive season at Bournemouth, where he played an instrumental role in helping the Cherries secure their highest-ever Premier League points tally, the 20-year-old has drawn attention from several top-flight clubs. However, it’s Liverpool who seem most determined to secure his services.
Speaking to MLSZ TV, Kerkez addressed the reports for the first time. “Of course something always leaks into the news. I don’t know how. At the same time, I think it is normal that if you play well and the team does well, then you get into the news and end up on the front page, and everyone talks about you,” he said.

His response was measured and mature, reflecting a mentality well-suited to Slot’s ethos of collectiveness over ego. “I see this as fuel that drives me forward. All this doesn’t break me, but it doesn’t boost my ego either, but it teaches me humility and motivates me,” Kerkez added. That kind of mindset has served him well at Bournemouth and would no doubt be welcomed in the Liverpool dressing room, which prizes discipline, hard work and humility.
Sources close to the negotiation confirm that Kerkez has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, with only a few minor contractual details left to iron out between the clubs. Liverpool remain in direct contact with Bournemouth and are optimistic about concluding a deal soon.
The timing of this potential transfer could be ideal for Liverpool. With Andy Robertson entering the latter stages of his career, the Reds need a long-term solution at left-back. Kerkez fits the profile: young, dynamic, defensively sound, and able to contribute going forward. His Premier League experience with Bournemouth only adds to his appeal.
Another factor possibly helping Liverpool’s pursuit is Kerkez’s close relationship with current Reds midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. Both players are stars of the Hungarian national team, and their bond off the pitch is clearly strong.
“We are still very close, we write to each other or call each other every other day, we talk about many things,” Kerkez revealed. “It feels good to have a friend who always answers the phone. When you call him, he answers and doesn’t put his mobile on silent.”

This connection may well be influencing Kerkez’s preference for a move to Merseyside, especially as Liverpool now offer Champions League football under a progressive manager who just delivered the club’s 20th league title.
Arne Slot’s first summer at the helm is shaping up to be an active one. With Frimpong already signed, and Florian Wirtz also strongly linked, the addition of Kerkez would signal a clear intent to build a younger, more athletic side without compromising on tactical intelligence.
Kerkez, still only 20, has demonstrated composure beyond his years at Bournemouth. His blend of physicality and technical quality could make him a staple in Slot’s system, which relies on fluid full-backs who can both defend and support in attack. His presence would not only offer competition for Robertson but also serve as part of a long-term succession plan.
Liverpool’s recruitment has long been admired for its strategic precision, and the potential acquisition of Milos Kerkez appears to be another calculated move. With the player’s openness, his existing relationship with Szoboszlai, and the club’s need for reinforcement in his position, this deal could soon reach completion.
