Mislintat gone: Former Ajax technical director sacked by Borussia Dortmund | OneFootball

As per Voetbal Primeur, Sven Mislintat has been fired by Borussia Dortmund. The club announced this on Thursday via official channels. The former technical director of Ajax had been at odds with sporting director Sebastian Kehl for some time and has now parted ways with the club after just nine months of service.

The 52-year-old Mislintat joined the German Bundesliga side on May 1, 2024, but now his time in Dortmund is over, with Dortmund’s sporting director Lars Ricken informing Mislintat of the dismissal on Thursday.

Recently, German media reported that Mislintat did not get along with Kehl. The technical director was seen within the club as ‘a stubborn person’, who was convinced of his own ideas and made this clear to other policymakers. This now seems to have led to his BVB dismissal.

There was also talk in Germany of an ‘internal power struggle’ at Dortmund, where Kehl and Mislintat in particular caused ‘commotion’ in the organisation. The two policymakers allegedly no longer communicated directly with each other in the last weeks of Mislintat’s time at Dortmund.

In 2023, Mislintat was still working for Ajax. Between May and September of that year, the German was responsible for incoming and outgoing transfers at the Amsterdam club. He was eventually fired due to ‘a lack of broad support within the organization’.
