Ahead of AC Milan’s clash against Udinese, it was reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be present at Milanello, but this has not been the case.

The case of Zlatan at Milan is consistently open, and there are repeated questions about his ability to successfully manage his role. With Milan’s start, it is understandable why so much pressure is on the Swede.

Since arriving, it has been repeated that there is no one above the former striker in Italy – given he is effectively Gerry Cardinale’s second body. So in some ways, it makes sense for him to not be present all the time, to ensure the hierarchies remain in place.

Nevertheless, reports suggested that he would deliver a talk to the squad this week after the international break to relax them and remind them of the standards required. However, this has not happened.

According to Milan News, Ibrahimovic has been ‘absent again’ and his presence at Milanello has not been seen all week. Of course, this is not the first time that there have been questions about his visibility around the club, and it probably will not be the last.

It opens a question, though. If Milan are desperate for a figure to remind everyone of standards, why is there not a certain figure for this role, rather than asking Zlatan to provide weekly reminders?
