Start to life in N17 has been extremely frustrating for Wilson Odobert, having been signed from Burnley in August, in one of the more out of the blue signings you will see, in todays era of everything being leaked by journalists on social media and other platforms.

The Frenchman instantly got minutes in the first team, being given a fair crack of the whip by Ange Postecoglu, who was not afraid to start him immediately. However, an injury at Coventry City in the Carabao Cup halted his progress and development.

It seemed like he was ahead of schedule regarding his return from injury, and even managed a cameo in the 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. However, whether he was rushed back, or suffered a fresh injury – the winger has not been in a match day squad since that game towards the end of October.

Lo and behold, it looks like he is now going to be out for a while. The winger posted a photo of himself in hospital on his social media, implying that he has undergone surgery and will be out for a while yet, as Spurs’ injury frustrations continue to grow and grow.

There is never a good time to be injured, but there are times that are worse than others, and this is certainly one of those times. Spurs are about to enter a packed schedule to end the year, and are missing a player who adds depth on both wings, positions that feel a bit thin at the moment.

This news also comes out in the same international break that has seen many reports that Rodrigo Bentancur is set to be hit with a seven game domestic ban, how Micky van de Ven could be out until December, and Cristian Romero picking up an injury with Argentina. When it rains, it pours. Well and truly.

To really demonstrate Spurs’ woes on the left hand side – James Maddison was deployed out there in the second half of the defeat to Galatasaray. Heung Min-Son’s minutes are being managed, Mikey Moore has been out with an illness, and Timo Werner continues to frustrate (and missed the game with Galatasaray in any case).

Even on the right, Dejan Kulusevski played there at times in the second half at Galatasaray, for the first time since last season – with the consensus being that he is far better in the middle of the park. Spurs need dynamic forwards if Ange’s style is going to work.
