Moretto: Milan ‘not an option’ for Lille forward despite repeated links | OneFootball

Jonathan David will not renew his expiring contract with Lille, a journalist has confirmed, but AC Milan are not in the running for him at present.

It was reported by Calciomercato.com yesterday and has been reported by numerous other sources too that Milan are keeping an eye on David’s situation amid what has been a long-standing admiration for the striker.

However, according to Matteo Moretto, Milan are ‘not an option’ for David, at least ‘at the moment’. The Canadian remains a summer market opportunity but there are ‘high salary and commissions to consider’.

Inter and Juventus are interested and are ‘already active’ in trying to sign the 24-year-old, while Barcelona are ‘closely monitoring the situation’ but so far there has been ‘no direct contact’. Atlético Madrid have probed in the past but are ‘not among the favourites now’.

A move from teams in the Premier League is ‘expected in the coming months’, but for the time being at least it seems as though the Rossoneri are not on the list of potential destinations for David, despite the reports suggesting otherwise.

As fans will remember, main reason behind the Joshua Zirkzee U-turn was due to the commissions that the Dutchman’s entourage were requesting, demands that the Premier League side were more willing to pay while Milan set a more principled stance.
