They lost 3-1 to PSV Eindhoven this past Wednesday, facing elimination from the Champions League knockout playoff.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Motta gave his players a day off on Thursday to digest the disappointing result in the Netherlands, but Friday’s training session began with the coach’s speech to the team.

According to the report, Motta analysed the many individual and team errors made against PSV, but also had three requests for the team.

Motta demanded an extra effort to reach Atalanta in third and cement a fourth placement, which grants a vital Champions League spot for 2025-26.

Motta also expects to see more intensity and more runs from his players.

According to the report, Motta didn’t even need to clear the air with Manuel Locatelli or Andrea Cambiaso. At the same time, however, Gazzetta claims that players appreciate Motta’s tactical ideas but sometimes do not agree with his methods.
