It has been claimed that this summer could see shock Newcastle United summer moves for Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
Saka of course injured at the minute but should be fit enough to make a move once we get to the summer transfer window.
The claims have come from Jakey Jones who gets in my local, the Queen Vic.
Jones believes that with the Gunners fading badly, the two Arsenal stars will be desperate to move on.
After getting another pint in, the barstool pundit said that he thinks both Saka and Saliba could prove perfect Eddie Howe signings.
He believes Bukayo Saka would be able to provide competition and push Jacob Murphy, who is in outstanding current form, for the right wing spot.
Whilst at the age of 23, William Saliba could prove the ideal long-term replacement for Fabian Schar. Though the Frenchman may need to bide his time initially, with the Swiss maestro showing no signs of stepping down just yet as first choice right-sided centre-back.
When returning from the toilet, Jakey Jones stated that his understanding is that a swap deal could form the basis of a summer double/double transfer both ways.
Jones saying he thinks Isaac Hayden could be set for an emotional return to the Emirates, whilst his inside (of his own head) information is that Mikel Arteta is understood to be hoping that Jamaal Lascelles might be persuaded to make the move down south this summer, once recovered from his long-term injury.
There would be a cash adjustment needed if (when?) this double/double deal goes ahead, though Jones said he wasn’t sure whether it would be Newcastle United or Arsenal needing to pay an additional amount to make these transfers reality this summer.
Having popped outside for a smoke, Jones returned to the bar and revealed that he had heard (from somebody, couldn’t remember who, could be one of the darts team) that Anthony Gordon would welcome the chance to team up with his England teammate Bukayo Saka, as well as a willingness from Dan Burn to help William Saliba adjust to the far superior lifestyle in the region, compared to that London.
Now going on the doubles, Jakey Jones understands Arsenal are hopeful they can keep Saliba this transfer window, but the North London club accept that the ambitious French international will need to move on in the summer if he is to stand a chance of silverware.
Mikel Arteta was unavailable to comment on the shock transfer claims, the Arsenal boss understood to be working on some imaginative new excuses, this time to explain why his best players could be set to leave the Emirates this year.
