The Magpies announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
It has been reported that the 19-year-old attacker will spend the remainder of the calendar year with Boro.
Ferguson joined Newcastle United in 2021 and she has made an important contribution to the first team. While she hasn’t made any appearances for Becky Langley’s side this season, the player has contributed important goals in past campaigns as Newcastle United have negotiated their way up the footballing pyramid. Ferguson has been a reliable member of the team, particularly when introduced from the bench.
The youngster has overcome long-term injury and now needs regular game time to continue her development. The decision has been made for Ferguson to play fourth tier football with Middlesbrough. The teenager is seen as an important player for the future at Newcastle United therefore she will be expected to challenge for first team selection when she returns from her loan spell away from the club.
Ferguson has been given the green light to represent Middlesbrough in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup therefore she is eligible for Sunday’s first round tie at Wythenshawe.
