A tough night for Lewis Hall and his Newcastle United teammates.
A 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
Back in December, an intriguing contest at St James’ Park when that game ended 3-3.
In that match, Lewis Hall got the better of Mo Salah in the first half, with the Liverpool player having the better of it second half.
Going into last night’s match at Anfield, of Liverpool’s 64 Premier League goals, Mo Salah had an incredible 41 direct goal involvements, scoring 25 and 16 assists.
Whilst Mo Salah did get yet another assist for Liverpool’s second goal, that wasn’t Lewis Hall at fault. Indeed, the lifelong Newcastle fan was easily United’s best player on the night and at least held his own against Mo Salah, arguably the 20 year old having the better of it.
A disappointing night overall for him and his teammates, but yet another confirmation of what an exciting talent Lewis Hall is.
Lewis Hall speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool 2 Newcastle 0:
“Straight after the game, it’s hard to put your finger on what went wrong, but I can’t fault the work ethic of any of the players of this team.
“We will always give 100 per cent but the goals we conceded were poor from our perspective.
“Apart from that, we did well against a top side.
“In the box there were a few too many spare players but I will have to have a look at it.
“We did have chances in the game.
“A couple early on in the first half, which if we put away, we change the outlook of the game.
“We are happy with the physical output and Liverpool are a top side.
“When you get chances you have to bury them, we didn’t do that tonight.”
