Jack Wilshere began his spell as a coach at Norwich City with a dramatic draw against Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Jack Wilshere moved from Arsenal’s u18 side to take up a coaching role at Norwich City last week, joining the backroom staff of manager Johannes Hoff Thorup at the club.

Thorup was pleased with his new coach’s start over the last few days, praising the former midfielder in an interview at the weekend.

“Based on the first couple of days here he’s a very good fit for us,” Thorup said.

“He was one of the first for us to mention (when recruiting), with what we’re trying to build here, with the young players but also to have a certain vision of how the game should be played and so on, he fits very well into the club and the environment here.

“We are happy to have him in the building, because he will add that quality.

“He’s a coach who has been around some of the best coaches, but also starting on his own, trying to build something. It’s very good to have coaches that have tried to be a coach before at youth level, because then you actually have to do a lot for yourself.

“And now I think he’s more than ready to take the next step.”

Norwich didn’t make the ideal start to life with Wilshere at the club, going 3-1 down to Middlesbrough in their Championship match on Saturday.

But goals from Borja Sainz and a Seny Dieng own goal saw the hosts snatch a late point, albeit whilst also losing Kenny McLean to an 87th-minute red card.

The Canaries had to settle for a point, but perhaps it’s a point gained given the circumstances of the comeback.

Norwich remain in the hunt for a promotion place, and Wilshere will hope to help them achieve it.
