Nottingham Forest are having a dream campaign this season. In the Premier League, they are currently third and looking very likely to qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League. Last Saturday, they defeated Brighton in the FA Cup quarter-finals to reach the competition’s semi-finals for the first time since 1991.
The last time Nottingham Forest faced Manchester United, Nuno Espírito Santo’s team won 3-2 at Old Trafford. Given the current form of both teams, the home side should be the favorites against Rúben Amorim’s side, who sit 13th in the table.
The penalty shootout hero for Nottingham in the quarter-finals against Brighton, their No.1 will keep his place.
The Nigerian is a regular in the team, and his defensive and passing abilities are crucial for Forest. Despite playing 120 minutes on Saturday, he should start.
The Serbian’s 2nd-minute goal set the tone the last time these teams faced each other. A solid center-back, he is once again expected to start.
Another regular in the team, the Brazilian has started every match except one. One of the most consistent players in the league, he should start yet another game.
A key player for Forest, the Welsh international has been a regular since returning to the starting XI and should start once again.
Like most of his teammates, the Argentine has been a regular ever since breaking into the starting XI. His ability to sit deep and provide a base for the attack is crucial to how Forest plays.
The 22-year-old may have played the full 120 minutes on Saturday, but his passing ability will be important for Nuno, and he should keep his place against Manchester United.
On Saturday, Elanga started on the bench and was introduced at the hour mark as a replacement for Awoniyi. He was the hero in their last league match before the break, scoring twice in their win against Ipswich. He will start at his regular right side on Tuesday.
The vice-captain was the star of the match the last time these teams met, scoring the second goal before assisting the winner. One of Forest’s top players, he will start once again.
The Englishman was a second-half substitute in their match against Brighton. He should return to the starting XI as Forest return to Premier League action, having already scored some important goals this season.
Club top scorer Chris Wood missed Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final due to a hip injury. Although Nuno said Wood is improving, Tuesday might come too soon for him. If Awoniyi can hold the ball well, he could cause trouble for United’s backline.
