Even though he is close to turning 37 years old, Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski remains at the peak of his goalscoring prowess.
The Polish striker has already surpassed his best goal tally for the club, bagging 34 goals in 37 matches, and if he maintains this rhythm, he could get close to the figures from his best seasons at Bayern Munich.
Lewandowski has found the net for Barcelona in all four competitions this season – La Liga, Copa del Rey, UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup, a feat only matched by Raphinha.
Lewandowski has netted 21 goals in 25 La Liga appearances – leading the Pichichi Trophy race. In addition, he has three goals in Copa del Rey and one in the Super Cup, while the 36-year-old has netted nine times in eight games in the Champions League.
As Barcelona get set to take on SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Wednesday, Lewandowski’s numbers against the Portuguese outfit will serve as a major confidence booster for them.

Lewandowski has netted 103 goals in Europe’s premier club competition. He is the third player in Champions League history to reach the century mark, following Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
In his 128 matches in the competition, the Barcelona striker has scored against 37 different teams. And the club he has punished the most is Benfica.
Indeed, Lewandowski has scored nine goals against the Portuguese giants, including two at Estadio da Luz earlier this season during the Catalans’ thrilling 4-5 win in the league phase.
During his career, Lewandowski has faced Benfica seven times, winning six and drawing one. His nine goals have come across five of those matches, making the Portuguese club one of his favourite victims.
Barcelona will hope that he is at his goalscoring best when they take the field against Benfica later this week.
