Official: Three Real Madrid stars nominated for La Liga Player of the Season award | OneFootball

Real Madrid failed to defend their La Liga crown this season as they finished second in the table, behind champions FC Barcelona.

The Merengues ended up four points short of their arch-rivals at the end of the campaign, relinquishing the title that they had won in 2023/24.

Despite the failure in retaining the title, Real Madrid had some standout performers over the course of the league season.

As such, as many as three Los Blancos’ players have now been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Season award.

Indeed, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. are all in the running for the honour.

However, they face competition from Barcelona’s quartet of Pedri, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski. Athletic Club ace Oihan Sancet and Isco of Real Betis are also nominated.

Mbappe, in his first season in La Liga, finished as the top scorer with 31 goals, winning the Pichichi Trophy in the process.

Vinicius, though, was not as influential as he can be, finishing with a return of 11 goals and ten assists from 30 league appearances.

Bellingham, who managed nine goals and nine assists in the league campaign, has also been nominated for the La Liga U23 Player of the Season along with Arda Guler.
