Several members of Chris Wilder's side could again start to attract interest from elsewhere

It has been an excellent start to the 2024/25 Championship season for Sheffield United.

Following a dismal relegation from the Premier League at the end of the previous campaign, the Blades spent the summer with the uncertainty of a potential takeover hanging over them.

There was also the issue of a two-point deduction imposed on them for the start of this season, following previous late payment of transfer funds to other clubs.

Despite all that, results have been excellent on the pitch, with Sheffield United currently the only unbeaten side left in the Championship.

Chris Wilder's side are second in the table, only behind league leaders Sunderland on goal difference.

That comes after a productive summer in the transfer window, in which they were still able to add to the squad amid all those other issues.

With how well they are now faring, retaining the services of those key players could be vital for the Blades, once the market opens again at the turn of the year.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at some of the scenarios that would constitute a successful January transfer window for Sheffield United, right here.

Ollie Arblaster stays

The emergence of Ollie Arblaster in the second-half of last season was one of the few bright sparks of the campaign at Bramall Lane.

Despite a recent injury, the midfielder has shown signs he can be a key man for the club this season, with two goals in six league games already this time round.

That has not gone unnoticed elsewhere though, with Premier League sides such as Brentford, Ipswich Town and Southampton all credited with an interest in the 20-year-old.

With Arblaster impressing for Sheffield United now, it would not be a surprise if those links were to re-emerge in January.

The Blades though, will surely be desperate to keep hold of him, not only due to his importance to their promotion push, but also due to the asset he could become as he continues his development.

Vinicius Souza stays

Another one of the brighter points at Bramall Lane during the previous campaign, was the form of Vinicius Souza in his first season with the club.

The midfielder proved to be a solid option in the Premier League, with his combative nature making life difficult for opponents.

Fulham were reported to have been in talks to sign Souza in the summer, with some believing Sheffield United had done well to keep the midfielder.

With the 25-year-old also playing a standout role at the start of this campaign, he is another that the Blades will be keen to keep hold of come January, even if that interest does unsurprisingly return.

Rhian Brewster sold

Things have not exactly worked out as anyone would have hoped since Rhian Brewster moved to Bramall Lane in a big money deal from Liverpool back in the summer of 2020.

The 24-year-old has been hampered by injuries throughout his time with the club, while he has also struggled to make an impact when he has been on the pitch.

He has scored just five goals and provided only two assists in 87 appearances in all competitions for Sheffield United, well short of what would be expected of a striker with his price tag.

In summer signings Kieffer Moore and Tyrese Campbell, the Blades also have other proven options at this level that they can call upon to lead the line.

With that in mind, it could arguably make sense to try and sell Brewster in January to get some return on their investment on him, before he is able to leave for free when his contract expites this summer.
