The coach: Pierre Sage (45 / France)
Pierre Sage did not make it beyond amateur level as a player. After hanging up his boots, he worked among other things as a scout and team manager before taking over the leadership of the youth department at Olympique Lyon. But he only carried out that role for five months, before he then took over the head coach role in November 2023.
Player to watch: Malick Fofana (19 / Belgium)
The attacking player, who arrived from KAA Gent in January 2024, has impressed this season so far and has already racked up six scorer points (four goals and two assists) across all competitions. As a reward for his development, the Belgian was handed his debut for the national team in October – under former Hoffenheim youth coach Domenico Tedesco.
Known from the Bundesliga:
Moussa Niakhaté (128 appearances for 1. FSV Mainz 05)
Corentin Tolisso (72 appearances for FC Bayern Munich)

Olympique Lyon became French champions seven times in a row between 2002 and 2008. They have never managed to win the league title before or since. No other club has managed such a long title-winning run in France, with Lyon's rivals AS Saint-Etienne, Olympique Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain winning a maximum of four consecutive titles.
