Manchester City’s latest January signing Omar Marmoush has admitted to the Etihad Stadium atmosphere being “crazy” in his debut for the club on Saturday evening.
The Egyptian international made his first start for the Premier League champions just days after making a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium from Eintracht Frankfurt, with an agreement reached in the region of €75 million.
It was a strong start for the 25-year-old, who has already been labelled as the “best player” in the Bundesliga by the very man who negotiated his signing for Manchester City, Director of Football Txiki Begiristain.
Marmoush brought a fresh excitement to the Manchester City system, and an attacking threat that many believe had been lost when Julian Alvarez brought an end to his time with the club during the last summer transfer window.
Speaking to reporters after the contest at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend, Omar Marmoush glowed with delight when asked for an immediate reaction to his debut for Manchester City since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt last week.
“It was an amazing debut. I’m really happy to be here. The debut was really, really nice. We won the game and it was a crazy atmosphere out there. I’m so happy to be here,” Marmoush said.
“Their support was always there throughout the whole game, and since the first minute I had the feeling that we were going to win today,” the Egyptian continued on the Manchester City fans’ atmosphere generated within the Etihad Stadium.
Discussing the days since his arrival from the Bundesliga, Marmoush explained, “The guys are really, really nice. Since the first day they took me into their family and made me feel really comfortable.”
The 25-year-old continued on the subject of a new partnership in attack, “The chemistry between me and the players is good, especially with Erling (Haaland). He’s been helping me integrate and adapt since I joined the team. He is an amazing player.”
Unfortunately for the Egypt international, his next opportunity to perform in competitive action will not be until next weekend, with the player not registered for duties in the UEFA Champions League this week.
When asked about where he will be watching Manchester City’s must-win encounter with Club Brugge, Marmoush said, “In the stadium, of course! I have trust in the players. We have really, really good quality players so I’m sure they will get the win and we’ll go on to the next round.”
Unfortunately for both Omar Marmoush and Manchester City, the newest recruit to be brought into Pep Guardiola’s squad will not be available on Wednesday night in a mammoth clash for the club as they take on Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League.
