Guardiola said they count for little now as his team looks to turn around their 24/25 season. The City manager said: “If you cannot improve, get forward, you will not accept your reality, me as a manager and the players. If the players believe what they have done in the past is enough to let the cards be played, if they believe that they are wrong. With me, they are wrong! Completely!”

The time for looking back and enjoying their past success is well and truly over for Pep Guardiola’s squad. It has been since the celebrations of the success they achieved last season ended.
