The 2024-25 Premier League continues with Gameweek 33 inching us closer to what is sure to be a thrilling climax.
Liverpool remain 13 points clear at the top of the table and will be hoping victory over Leicester City on Sunday can edge them further towards the title. Arsenal host Ipswich Town on Sunday in a match that will have implications at both ends of the table.
We’ve taken a look at all 10 matches from gameweek 33 and offered our predicted scores.
Crystal Palace will be looking to keep their small European hopes alive when they host a Bournemouth side that have their own European aspirations on their mind. Just five points, and four places, separate the two sides and this looks like it could be a close encounter. Crystal Palace have lost their last two games, whilst Bournemouth come into the game off the back of a vital 1-0 win over Fulham.
Everton have managed to pull themselves away from the threat of relegation, mainly thanks to the re-appointment of David Moyes. The Toffees are in 13th and, whilst European qualification is a bridge too far, it’ll be calming for Everton fans to see themselves 17 points of the bottom three with six games remaining. Man City will be looking to lay down the gauntlet to their top five rivals, with the race for Champions League qualification really hotting up.
Both of these sides will still have European qualification on their minds, although Brighton sit in a better position. Brentford are currently in 11th and sit 11 points behind seventh placed, Aston Villa, whilst Brighton are one place ahead of the Bees but five points better off. A win here, for either side, could catapult them into European reckoning but it should be a close contest between two evenly matched teams.
West Ham aren’t technically safe from relegation but it would take an extraordinary capitulation from the Hammers, as well as near perfect form from Ipswich, to see them in the Championship next season. Southampton already know their fate, with their relegation sealed last weekend, but will be keen to pick up the points they need to avoid beating Derby County’s record for the worst points tally in Premier League history.
This is a huge match in the race for Champions League football and one that looks really hard to predict. Aston Villa are currently in seventh position, five points behind their opponents this weekend. Newcastle are very much the form team in the division at the moment, having won their last five games. Another win here would see them take full control in the battle for top five football but a Aston Villa win would open up the race with just five games left.
Man Utd haven’t enjoyed this season at all and currently sit in 14th position, with winning the Europa League being the only way they can qualify for European football next season. They’ve lost two of the last three games and there is a real chance that they could finish as low as 17th this season. Wolves turnaround has been miraculous under Vitor Peirera, with the Midland side winning their last four games to all but confirm they will play Premier League football next season.
Fulham are still well in the race for European football, with the Cottagers in ninth position and just six points off the European places. A victory here would give them a huge boost heading into the final five games of the season. Chelsea are in sixth place and one of the sides that are six points ahead of Fulham. With the top five all being assured of Champions League football, Chelsea will be keen to win here and keep pace with the sides around them in the race for the top five.
Ipswich are in a fight for their lives to remain in the Premier League. They are in 18th place and a loss here, coupled with a West Ham win over Southampton, would seal their fate. A win would keep their slim hopes alive but they’d need the Hammers to lose all of their remaining games this season as well as winning their last five themselves. Arsenal aren’t mathematically out of the title race but it’s all but over with Liverpool leading by 13 points here. Anything less than a victory here could hand the title to their rivals so there’s plenty of motivation for the Gunners this weekend.
Leicester City are all but down in the race to avoid relegation and anything other than a win here would seal their fate. Their recent form has been awful, with a single point picked up in their last nine games. They are in 19th place and 17 points away from safety with just 18 left to play for. It feels like Liverpool have had one hand on the Premier League title for months now but this is the weekend it could be sealed. If Ipswich pull off a win against Arsenal, Liverpool know that a victory in this clash will see them lift the title for the 20th time.
Tottenham have had a disastrous season and currently sit in 15th place. Whilst they are clear of relegation, it’s not looked good for Spurs at times this season and they are another club in serious danger of finishing as low as 17th this season. In contrast, it’s been a dream season for Nottingham Forest who have occupied a place in the top four for much of the campaign. Their form has dropped off at the worst time, though, and they’ll need to stop losing games if they hope to qualify for the Champions League next season.
