Manchester City up first in title battle

Liverpool are top of the Premier League table heading into the ninth round of fixtures.

There is another busy week of Premier League action ahead, starting on Friday as Leicester City host Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City are then part of packed 3pm schedule on Saturday and could briefly move top of the pile if they can beat winless Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.

Brentford host Ipswich at the same time, before Fulham entertain Everton in Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off.

Sunday offers an even busier day of action following various midweek European fixtures.

Crystal Palace welcome Tottenham in a London derby in pursuit of their first victory, while Chelsea host Newcastle and Manchester United travel to West Ham.

The headline fixture of the weekend, however, comes in Sunday’s late kick-off when the current leaders travel down to Arsenal.
