PSG have a major decision to make—one that may already be on the radar of clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City: Is Gianluigi Donnarumma still their long-term answer in goal?
He’s under contract until 2026, but with top European teams starting to circle, the pressure is growing. Since arriving from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has delivered in big moments—key saves, clutch penalty stops—but his time in Paris has been far from flawless.
High-profile mistakes, especially the costly one against Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League, continue to cast doubt on his reliability when it matters most.
Now, with PSG headed to the Champions League final, the spotlight is back on him. A strong performance could reaffirm his place as the club’s No. 1. If not, and with free agency approaching, others will be ready to pounce.

In his latest column for Ensemble PSG, Robin Bairner, the chief editor at Football Transfers, wrote about Donnarumma’s future and whether PSG should offer him a new contract.
“There’s a debate to be had about the No.1, although that’s for another day. Despite shaky shot-stopping statistics overall this season, [Donnarumma has] been statistically poorer than Matvey Safanov.
“For example, his Champions League performances suggest that he’s the perfect keeper for PSG. He’s shown a capacity to raise his level for the big games, which has been precious, even vital, to the team’s European progress. This should be enough to see him rewarded with a new deal.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown commented that if Donnarumma and PSG don’t agree on a contract extension, he’ll definitely be on Pep Guardiola’s radar.
Moreover, journalist Alfredo Pedullà has also shared that Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Juventus are all interested in Donnarumma, who could be on the move this summer if Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t offer him a contract extension.
Meanwhile, A recent report from Fichajes suggests that Manchester United is among the clubs closely monitoring Italian international Gianluigi Donnarumma.
However, The Mirror has reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is committed to staying at Old Trafford and fighting for his place. Despite questions about his future and speculation that the club is exploring new goalkeeper options, Onana is reportedly staying.
