Liverpool beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, with Alisson producing a man-of-the-match performance in Paris.
The visitors were under pressure early on as PSG started the brighter of the two, and the hosts thought they were ahead on 21 minutes as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia curled in, only for VAR to disallow it for offside.
But PSG came again in a frantic first half, with Joao Neves and Kvaratskhelia going close while Ibrahima Konate was arguably fortunate to avoid a red card for bringing down Bradley Barcola when the youngster was 1-v-1.
The second half started in much the same way as the hosts piled on the pressure, but Liverpool – and particularly Alisson – were equal to it as they defied wave after wave of PSG attacks.
And their resilience paid off in the end as Harvey Elliott – brought on just 47 seconds earlier – curled in from Darwin Nunez’s pass to give the Reds a huge advantage to take to Anfield.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany spent little time enjoying the victory.
"It's the first half. We still have to get into the second game," he said. "There's zero percent thinking about the course of the game or anything else. Total focus so that we're good again in the next game," Kompany said.
"We're staying calm, we've always reacted and shown that we're ready for what lies ahead and that has to continue."

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso said his side need a miracle to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals after being hammered 3-0 by German rivals Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
England forward Harry Kane scored in each half to guide the six-times European champions to victory in the first leg in Munich.
It was a bitterly disappointing evening for the visitors, who suffered their first defeat by Bayern since Alonso took charge in October 2022.
"The second goal, the red card and the penalty, everything went in Bayern's favour. And that's why we got this result," Alonso told DAZN.
"We have to show a mature performance to control that better. The mistakes and details are important, but it's a bitter evening for us ... One goal more or less can make a big difference.
"We've seen that there are always big miracles in football and we almost need one now. But we'll see... It's football, it's not the first time and there's still a game at home."

Luis Enriquez is next to speak to TNT, and he says that it is “difficult to think about the match in a positive way”.
“I think we deserved to win, it’s one of the best Champions League matches that we’ve done this season.
“When you think their best player was their goalkeeper…football is often unfair and we have to accept that, but we’re ready for Anfield.
“We dont have anything to lose. Today they created one or two chances, and we created a lot.
“I'm proud of my players, of my team, of the supporters, and that’s the key to continue.
“[They’re] top players, [a] top quality team, and I think they haven’t felt that [pressure] this season.
“We have our last chance and we’re going to think about that in a positive way,” he adds.
When asked if PSG can still win the tie, he replies: “Of course!”
