Barcelona star Raphinha has confirmed that a fellow member of Hansi Flick’s squad was a starring member of his Champions League Fantasy Football squad on Wednesday night.

Barcelona are of course fresh off an altogether impressive triumph on the continent yesterday evening.

After making the trip to Portugal for a Round-of-16 first-leg showdown with Benfica, the Blaugrana ultimately emerged on the right side of a 1-0 result.

Making as much all the more noteworthy is the fact that, for well over an hour in Lisbon, the Catalans were forced to play with 10 men.

After Pau Cubarsí was shown an early red card, a whole host of Barca’s stars stepped up to the plate, to secure a vital advantage to take back to Catalunya’s capital next week.

Chief amongst the star performers for the visitors on Wednesday was Wojciech Szczęsny.

The Pole conjured up nothing short of a remarkable performance between the posts to keep Benfica at bay, coming up with eight saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

And delighted with as much for more reasons than one, as alluded to above, was Raphinha.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Estádio da Luz, the Brazilian, who notched the only goal of the game, admitted:

“I’ve got Szczęsny in my fantasy team, so he’s gotten me alot of points today!”
