RB Leipzig have confirmed ankle ligament damage suffered by Xavi Simons.

Simons suffered the injury during the German club’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek.

Leipzig tweeted out the news on Thursday admitting that the Netherlands international will be sidelined “for several weeks”.

The 21-year-old is almost certain to miss key games against Borussia Dortmund, Celtic and Inter.
