Real Betis are reportedly confident of keeping Manchester United loanee Antony in Seville beyond this summer.

United’s Europa League defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur should have a major impact on the club’s recruitment plans.

The Red Devils, who currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, can no longer offer European football to their priority targets, who may now decide to move elsewhere.

Further, United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League could also help Betis get their way.

According to the Spanish publication AS, the La Liga outfit were keeping a close eye on the final in Bilbao.

There’s a feeling that Antony’s desire to stay at Estadio Benito Villamarín will intensify after Wednesday night as his parent club will not play in any European competition next campaign.

Further, it is claimed that Betis are confident of convincing United to sanction another loan deal for the 24-year-old, who has been a prolific figure under Manuel Pellegrini in Spain.

The ex-Ajax man has been directly involved in 13 goals in 24 appearances since joining the club in January on a six-month loan deal.

AS adds that Betis’ relationship with United is good and an agreement could be reached if their “interest is mutual.”

It is believed that Los Verdiblancos want to convince the Mancunians that Antony could improve even more if he stays at Betis for another term. His anticipated growth would allow United to fetch a high fee for their €95m signing.

Having said that, Betis’ ambitious plans for Antony do not help INEOS immediately. After their Europa League disaster, the club’s hierarchy would prefer to sell their players this summer to ease their financial concerns.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United intend to permanently sell the Brazilian and are hoping to raise north of £30m from his sale.
