Real Betis forward Vitor Roque opens up on a tough period spent at Barcelona | OneFootball

Vitor Roque (19) needed a bit of time to find his feet in Spanish football. He didn’t quite set the world alight at Barcelona in the limited opportunities he had and is only now finding regular football at Real Betis.

As per GOAL, who quoted an article from ABC Sevilla, the young forward opened up on his career so far, and the tough period of time he spent in Catalonia.

Vitor Roque spent just 350 minutes on the pitch in a Barcelona shirt, when discussing this period he said ‘I went through difficult times there, but that’s over now. I’m here and happy.‘

He also discussed his mental health during his time at Barcelona stating ‘I spent six or seven months without smiling…’

As a young 19-year-old who had just made his first move to Europe, it was likely extremely difficult for Vitor to adjust to life across the Atlantic, a task made no easier by his lack of playing time.

Roque is in a better situation now however, and has made clear his desire to stay in Seville at Real Betis, but he knows the decision isn’t down to him:

‘The truth is that it doesn’t depend on me. I want to play here at Betis. I would like that very much. I have spoken to my parents about it. Life is good here and I would love to play more here.‘

Real Betis’ next fixture is against Osasuna on Saturday when Vitor Roque will be looking to contribute to the score sheet and get his second goal for his new club since joining in the summer.
