Real Madrid cult hero reveals Ancelotti’s reaction over his exit – ‘He was angry because…’ | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappe has found his goalscoring shoes and Real Madrid’s attack is flying once again with consistent goals game after game.

His rise to form thus helped forget the team’s apparent lack of a natural striker – a role Joselu used to play in Carlo Ancelotti’s team last season.

Arriving on a bargain deal, the Spanish veteran turned into a wild card for the Italian manager across the season and scored many important goals for the men in white, including pulling them through to the UEFA Champions League finale.

Joselu speaks on leaving Real Madrid

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, the former Real Madrid star revealed how difficult it was for him to make the decision to leave the club after making memories for a lifetime there.

“Saying goodbye to was is one of the most difficult moments of my life. I couldn’t make that decision with my heart because I would have stayed in Madrid all my life, I get goosebumps to think about it,” he said, remembering his decision to leave.

Elaborating on why he felt it was the best decision for him to part ways with the club, Joselu said:

“I thought about my family, it’s my children and I think it’s positive in the long run, but at the time it was negative.”

Having won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with Los Blancos just months before the day, Joselu also recollected how difficult it was for him to communicate his decision to the club that he wished to leave.

“When I decided to leave, I was unable to talk to my wife. Lucas Vazquez called me and I was unable to talk to him, just like with Modric, I couldn’t get the words,” stated Joselu.

“Telling Ancelotti was difficult, he was angry because he wanted me to stay,” he added.

The striker then recalled how he was connected with Real Madrid even after his transfer to Qatar and how he took long to clear his head.

“I would have been playing for 5 minutes. In my first two months in Qatar, my head was still in Madrid.”

“I remember that Madrid tied the first game and I’m trending on Twitter, people remembered me,” he added.

Finally, Joselu reminisced the day that was the most special for him as a Real Madrid player – the comeback win over Bayern Munich that he won for the team coming off the bench.

“The Bayern day was incredible, my skin is bristling. I can die peacefully because I have played and won titles with Real Madrid, the club of my life.”
